VICTORIA PUNCH

This recipe, I am told, improves with time. I suggest that you make it a day or two ahead of time. Refrigerate before serving.

4  tablespoons sugar

8  tablespoons lime juice

1  cup rum

1  cup water

Pinch nutmeg

5  drops bitters

Combine ingredients and pour over ice to serve.

  1. i love a good rum cocktail. which kind of rum do you use for this? silver? gold? dark?

i think, through you, i may have found my new year’s eve cocktail.

    thanks christopher!

    • I use gold…this really is the best punch recipe in the world and it wasn’t even mine! (Got it from an older Boston native who in turn stole it from an even older Yankee.)

  2. This recipe is vastly different from others I’ve found searching for “victoria punch”, but is delicious! I reduced the water to 1/4 cup to account for being served over the rocks, and it worked well.
