Capresso Response

“Thank you to Cook’s Illustrated for bringing this to our attention. Quality assurance is extremely important to us. Our customer service department has thousands of interactions with consumers each year, and we have not received a large number of complaints about an odor from the H2O Plus Water Kettle. In most cases, when a consumer brought up this issue, the problem was resolved by following the Operating Instructions for ‘first time use,’ which say that a full kettle of water should be boiled and discarded before boiling water to make beverages. Any “new smell” should dissipate after one to two uses. Also, the water that you use can affect the odor. The consumer can freshen the water kettle by filling it with water, adding a few drops of lemon juice, bringing it to a boil and then disposing of the liquid. If these tips do not solve the problem, the consumer is welcome to call our customer service department at 800-767-3554 for additional help.”
